The Brentwood community came together Saturday morning to remember the life and legacy of longtime high school soccer coach Ron Eden.

Eden passed away last month at the age of 72. He was one of the winningest high school coaches in New York State history, finishing his career with more than 400 victories.

Former players, coaches and colleagues gathered to honor Eden and reflect on the impact he had on generations of athletes both on and off the field.

“He looked out for me so much as I was growing up. Not because he had to, or was sworn to, or needed to. But it was out of the love of the friendship between my father and Ronnie.”

Eden’s accomplishments extended well beyond his win total. He was inducted into the Brentwood Sports Hall of Fame, the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame and the Long Island Soccer Hall of Fame.

Those who knew him say his legacy will live on through the countless players he coached, mentored and supported throughout his career.
