A munitions shell was discovered during a basement cleanout at a home in the Hillcrest area of Ramapo on Sunday, according to police.

Officials believe it may date back to the Korean War and was left behind by a veteran who once lived there.

The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office bomb disposal unit inspected the device and safely removed it from the home.
