The Cape May Zoo has reopened Tuesday morning after a bomb threat forced visitors and staff to evacuate and prompted a lockdown.
The Cape May County Sheriff's Office said the threat was received around 4 p.m. Monday. The zoo remained closed while a K-9 team searched the grounds and gave the all clear.
Officials said bomb-sniffing dogs will conduct a follow-up sweep before the zoo opens to visitors.
County officials said similar hoax threats have disrupted zoos and aquariums across the country for months.
