Bojangles opened a location in Brooklyn Monday, marking a new era for the Carolina-born restaurant chain.
The East Flatbush location at 5910 Church Ave. will operate around the clock, although the dining room will close at midnight, the company says.
Bojangles, an iconic southern brand, was founded in 1977 and is known for its chicken, biscuits, breakfast and more. The chain had a brief presence in New York City in the 1980s.
"This opening is about more than just great Bojangles chicken and biscuits – it's a celebration of joining the East Flatbush community and bringing our food and philosophy to New York neighbors everywhere," said owner and operator Habib Hashimi. "We're excited to introduce our Southern hospitality and famous flavors to East Flatbush and the surrounding community – and proud to kick things off by honoring the local heroes who keep it safe."
Bojangles says it eventually plans to open more than 50 locations in NYC and New Jersey.
"Opening in New York is a powerful moment for Bojangles and a meaningful step in our journey to become a truly national brand," said Jose Armario, CEO of Bojangles. "We're excited to bring our Southern roots, bold flavors and hospitality to one of the most iconic markets in the world, and to grow alongside a franchise partner who shares our vision for what Bojangles can be."
