South Brunswick police are reminding residents to stay alert after multiple black bear sightings in Kendall Park, including a recent sighting near Sandhill Road.
Officials say black bears are common throughout New Jersey and are usually just passing through wooded areas between neighborhoods.
Residents should never feed or approach a bear, secure garbage cans, remove bird feeders during bear season and bring pet food indoors.
Call 911 if a bear poses an immediate threat, becomes a nuisance or attacks a pet. To report a nuisance bear, call the NJDEP hotline.
