FORECAST:
Today's conditions are frigid with wind chills in the teens and low 20s. There will be a west-northwesterly wind at 10-15 mph.
The sky begins to turn cloudy this afternoon, becoming an overcast overnight.
Flurries arrive overnight north and west but snow showers don't really begin until about 11a.m. This weather system passes across the state as snow north and west and rain south and east. Snow accumulations are generally under 1" at the higher elevations whereas rainfall makes for wet conditions elsewhere.
Dicey travel is possible along the hills in northern Somerset County, western Union County, and western Essex County.
The rain wraps up near 8 p.m. and the snow shortly before.
It remains cold into Thursday, but not as cold as today. It will be gusty with winds from the west at 20-25 mph.
Friday will be breezy and cold with temperatures in the mid-30s again under a partly sunny sky.
We're watching the weekend again for an opportunity for another round of wintry weather. It could be snow or rain, but it is something just to watch at this time.
