The Better Business Bureau says scammers are more likely to take advantage of consumers buying tickets for big sporting events, like Opening Day.
Thousands of fans are expected to flood the stands of Yankee Stadium as the New York Yankees face off the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2025 season opener.
Claire Rosenzweig, CEO and president of the Better Business Bureau, said when buying tickets, always buy from a source you trust.
"The most important thing... buy from a trusted source. In this case, with the game opener, go to Yankee Stadium's website or go to mlb.com for tickets," said Rosenzweig.
Other advice includes getting verified resellers for legitimacy.
She advises not to fall for clickbait on social media advertisements promoting cheap tickets.
"Know that there are scalpers out there that are unauthorized, unlicensed and pure phonies out there who just really want to get your information," she warned.
The BBB is also offering tips on how to protect your wallet.
It says paying with a credit card is the way to go. It provides added protection on your transaction, allowing you to dispute the charge if you fall for a scam.
