One person was injured after a basement fire in Belmont, according to the FDNY, around the corner from a deadly blaze that killed two, including a teen, in April.
Firefighters rushed to 2380 Hughes Ave. between E. 187 Street and E. 186 Street within 10 minutes of receiving 911 calls around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Nearly 80 first responders worked to contain heavy smoke conditions in the super's quarters, according to a battalion chief at the scene.
The fire was contained within an hour, and the person injured at the scene was treated and released by paramedics.
