Best-selling author Shonda Rhimes was in Westport Monday night to close out StoryFest 2025.
It's the 10th anniversary of her acclaimed memoir, "Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun, and Be Your Own Person."
Best known for her creations like "Grey's Anatomy," "Private Practice," and "Scandal," Rhimes is the first woman to create three television dramas that achieved the 100-episode milestone.
“Oh my gosh! Shonda is just incredible for every reason," Monifa Smith-Zamor, of Norwalk says. "We've got "Grey’s Anatomy," we’ve got "Bridgerton," we’ve got everything. She’s just amazing."
Rhimes, a Westport resident, spoke in front of a sold-out crowd.
StoryFest is the Westport Library’s annual literary festival, and the largest literary festival in the state.
“It’s really a remarkable opportunity to bring in a lot of great authors and a lot of fans of those authors into one space to talk about books, literature, and everything we love at a library," said E.J. Crawford, the library's marketing director.
Fans say Rhimes continues to be an inspiration for women everywhere.
“I think it’s really powerful for women to continue telling their stories and to walk in a way where they’re willing to evolve and willing to be vulnerable," says Alexa Gorman, of Prospect. "I think that’s really important for people to see regardless of where they are and what chapter they’re in in their life. It’s really special to be a part of that."
