Ask the Mayor: Eric Adams on what a Zohran Mamdani administration might look like and much more

Mayor Eric Adams on meeting President Trump while he's in New York City for the UN General Assembly:

"It's not on my schedule. I have a slew of other meetings with a group of various dignitaries. I have really been focusing on the continent of Africa and seeing how we can build better relationships and trade." Mayor Adams on if he would take a job in the Trump administration:
"I have a great job and I want to continue that job. Voters make that decision so those hypotheticals don't exist with me."

On rumors that he's leaving his campaign:

"This has been going on and on for weeks and it's hurt my fundraising and it's hurt my endorsers...but you have to deal with this and keep moving. I'm in this race and I'm going to continue to run."
"Imagine the arrogance that's attached to someone predicting what's going to happen tomorrow...God is in charge of my life. Whatever happens next in my life, I'm looking forward to it."

On lawsuit against campaign finance board for matching campaign funds that he has been denied:

"$4 million is tied up that I didn't received from the campaign finance board, and many of these rumors hurt. Part of running is getting your message out. How do you do that? You need money" for mailers, volunteers, staff. "I have been handicapped everywhere imaginable."

On recent political violence. How will Eric Adams remember Charlie Kirk:

"As a person who was willing to sit down in dialogue. Our inability to talk to each other...and SOME of Zohran's voters are just disrespectful...The language that they use is just unbelieveable. And this political violence can turn into physical violence as we saw with Charlie Kirk. You may not agree with what he stated or his position, but isn't that what America is? America is a place where you are allowed to voice your disagreement. When it turns into a bullet and not a ballot, we are moving in the wrong direction."

On Jimmy Kimmel situation:

"I wouldn't boycott ABC. I think ABC is one of the stations, like News 12, who cover this city in a very unbiased and a fair manner."

On what a Zohran Mamdani administration would look like:

"When you start promoting decriminalizing prostitution, that's harmful to quality of life of our city. I know what prostitution and sex trafficking does to young boys and girls. When you stand for and believe that you should move 3,000 people off Rikers Island, who are some of the most dangerous people in our city, they are going to go back to their communities that they preyed on in the first place. When you say you don't want billionaires in our city, these 1% income earners pay close to 50% of our taxes. That's how we have our police, our firefighters, our teachers. His policies are hurtful and harmful to the city."

On the Brooklyn Marine Terminal approval:

"Let's look at the numbers. 6,000 new units of housing, 2,000 permanently affordable, 40,000 jobs to build out this project. That location has remained undeveloped. Just a wasteland for so many years...Hats off to all involved" in getting the approval.

On city reversing stance on "Just Home" location in The Bronx:

"We are saying that we are not looking at it for the formerly incarcerated at Rikers. But that location will still be used for housing. We are not walking away from housing in that location. And we were able to find other locations that's more suitable to do the formerly incarcerated individuals." Those locations include other locations in The Bronx. "We don't want to overburden The Bronx...The Bronx has been inundated."

On possibility of Canarsie ferry

"When you look at the transportation desert, you only have the L train really." He said he would love to get a ferry in Canarsie and Rockaway.

Future of Coney Island Casino

"We should allow them to go to the final stage...When you have these casinos, they bring billions of dollars. Economic development. They become anchors. All you have to do is look at the [Aqueduct in Queens], you see how successful these projects are. Our representative on the local community boards, they voted in favor of it and hope everyone else gives them a chance."

More protection on the 2 train?:

"We did an analysis to see where crime was taking place on the subway and believe it or not, it's the platforms. 5.6 million riders a day, we have an average of 5 felonies a day. This system is the safest it's been in recorded history if you take out the two COVID years when no one was on the subway."
