Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a masked gunman who they say robbed a Chase Bank in the Town of Boonton on Saturday afternoon and fled with about $12,000 in cash.
Law enforcement responded to the Chase Bank at 530 Myrtle Ave. at approximately 1:57 p.m. after receiving a report of a bank robbery, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. Investigators said a man entered the bank wearing a ski mask, sunglasses and gloves while brandishing a pistol. He demanded money before leaving with approximately $12,000 in cash.
Authorities said the suspect fled in a nearby gray or silver Honda Odyssey. He is described as a white man believed to be in his 50s who was wearing a black suit, black gloves and a dark-colored tie.
Prosecutors also said reports circulating on social media that the suspect was detained during a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 80 are incorrect.
Anyone with information, including home surveillance or dash camera footage, is asked to contact the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
