After two spring-like days with highs in the 60s, temperatures will drop back into the 40s and 50s as winds shift, bringing in cooler air.
A few showers are possible from late Wednesday into Thursday. In northern Litchfield County, some wet snow showers may develop, with a light coating possible as temperatures hover near freezing early Thursday morning. While it will be the chilliest day of the week, temperatures will remain above average in most areas.
Elsewhere, light rain showers may develop, but accumulations will be minimal. A better chance of much-needed rain arrives over the weekend, with the focus on Sunday into early Monday.
Up to half an inch of rainfall is possible, which would be beneficial for the region. Western Connecticut remains in a drought, increasing the risk of fire spread as we head into early spring. Soaking rains like this are exactly what we need.
