Alternate side parking rules resumed Thursday after being suspended for several weeks, following the major snowstorm in January.
In Canarsie, several streets remain partially blocked by snowbanks, some taking up multiple parking spaces.
Residents say that is making it harder to comply with the parking rules.
The Department of Sanitation said the agency is prepared to address the remaining snow.
“We are excited to be back out there today,” a spokesperson said. “We are running about 100 pickup truck plows alongside the street sweepers to help them get curb access. This will make a huge difference in the cleanliness of every block with street sweeping regulations.”
Some drivers said the city should delay enforcement until more snow is cleared before giving out tickets.
“I think they should wait a little bit more until we could get the snow off the streets. It would be nice,” one resident said.
