Airbnb is offering an incentive to bring in new hosts across Northern and Central New Jersey as preparations for FIFA World Cup head into the home stretch.
"With the way rent is now and mortgages, any amount is good. So $700 is pretty damn good," said Keith Brouca, of Montclair.
According to a study done by
Deloitte, the average host could earn $3,000 over the event's duration, but in the New York-New Jersey area, that number shot up to $5,700.
"I think a lot of people are struggling financially right now," said Daryn Sirota, of Montclair. "Not just due to inflation because of the potential raise of taxes in Montclair due to the suffering school district, so I think a lot of people are going to be looking for opportunities for more money."
While active Airbnb hosts aren't eligible for the new host incentive, they may be eligible for up to $760 dollars through the
FIFA World Cup referral bonus.
