Nearly 82 million Americans are predicted to travel during the Thanksgiving holiday week.
This travel forecast would set a new record, with an additional 1.6 million compared to last year.
AAA says at least 73 million of those people will be driving.
However, concerns about flight cancellations could mean some air travelers will switch to road trips, according to the agency.
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon are projected to be the most congested time on the roads before Thanksgiving Day.
The worst of those delays will be on the Verrazzano bridge, AAA says.
