The nationwide average price for a gallon of gas jumped eleven cents overnight.
The surge comes amid fears that oil prices would rise as the U.S and Israel carry out attacks on Iran.
The national average gas price has remained relatively flat over the past few weeks -- costing around $3, according to AAA.
The U.S. average is now $3.11, as of March 3.
A slightly lower price across New York State and on Long Island, with the averages sitting at $3.04 and $2.91, respectively.
Traders have been betting the oil supply from Iran and elsewhere in the middle east would slow or halt.
They predict prolonged attacks would create even higher prices.
