While tens of thousands of golf fans gear up to watch the biggest names in professional golf, local businesses say they’re ready to go too. “I think with the field that the Travelers has this year,” Sean Dolbeare, of Hideaway Pub, says, “We’re going to get a lot more people in than we normally would.” Gas stations, hotels, bars, and restaurants near TPC River Highlands are sure to be packed this weekend. Dolbeare says his bar expects to see 50-75% more customers this weekend, and that means having extra food and drinks on hand to keep up with the added rush. “This weekend we’re expecting a lot of foot traffic and a lot of people that come from out of town,” Dolbeare says. “It’s going to be good.” Another business right down the street says it will have extra staff behind the counter. “We know when the Travelers is coming,” Bailey Wilson, of Tall Man’s Homemade Ice Cream, says. “We have more people, a lot more time to scoop, and we just have more ice cream.” The tournament tees off Thursday morning. A champion will be crowned Sunday night.
