Joulane Cyril, 55, of Bridgeport, says raising a child with special needs is "the challenge of a lifetime".
"It literally almost killed me. My son has cerebral palsy and the whole process of managing his special-ed needs was overwhelming," Cyril said.
But Christine Dodaj, of Greenwich, says she created an app that could be "a game changer" for parents like Joulane.
"I'm the creator and founder Sped Connect, an app to help parents manage both the education and the life-management challenges of raising a child with special needs," Dodaj said.
The app helps parents tackle everything from tracking moods and behaviors to storing and organizing all of a child's education and medical records.
Sped Connect is not free, but the cost is low.
"It's $1 a month or $5 a year, which should be affordable for just about everyone," Dodaj said.
Cyril says she can't wait to try the app.
"I'm excited about it, and I hope it can help me and other parents like me," Cyril said.
