77-year-old man killed in Downtown Brooklyn e-bike crash
A 77-year-old man was killed following an e-bike crash in Downtown Brooklyn, police say.
It happened just before 2:30 p.m. Monday outside the Hilton Hotel near Smith and Schermerhorn streets.
The NYPD says the man was riding an e-bike, with pedals, traveling northbound in the bike lane on Schermerhorn Street when he lost control and collided with a 47-year-old cyclist who was riding in the opposite direction.
The 77-year-old man suffered serious injuries. Paramedics rushed him to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he died.
According to investigators, the 47-year-old was not hurt during the crash. Police say he stayed at the scene.
The victim's identity has not been released as of Monday night. No charges have been filed.
