The Mattituck Strawberry Festival returned for its 70th year on Wednesday.
Long Island’s sweetest festival is expected to bring out thousands from Wednesday to Sunday to enjoy carnival rides, live music, and plenty of sweet treats.
Anitra Goff, of Riverhead, says they never miss the festival.
"It's fun! It's a nice thing that they do every year, and the shortcakes are the best," she said.
The Mattituck Lions Club puts together the festival every year.
All the proceeds raised from the festival go to dozens of local charities.
"All of the money raised here, all proceeds, are donated back. Yes, we don’t keep anything,” said Rob Nine, of the Mattituck Lions Club.
For Mattituck residents like Kelsey Ketcham, this festival is all about the community.
"It means community. It means giving back to our community. It means celebrating the local farms and the strawberry season that's upon us,” she said.
The Mattituck Strawberry Festival runs from Wednesday to Sunday.
