Seven people are without a home after a fire damaged a house in Piscataway this weekend.

Firefighters responded around 2:30 a.m. Sunday to a home on 8th Street.

Officials said flames were coming from the rear of the house when crews arrived.

Firefighters were able to rescue a kitten from the home and reunite it with its owner.

No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is assisting the seven displaced residents.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
