Police say a 30-year-old man stabbed his mother and father to death inside a Bethpage deli on Thursday.
Police have identified the victims as Angela Pulisciano, 62, of Seaford, and Antonio Dambrosio, 70, of Seaford.
Police have identified the son as Vito Dambrosio, of Seaford. He's now facing first-degree murder charges.
Dambrosio entered the deli and had an argument with his parents in a back room, according to police. He then stabbed his mother and attacked his father, stabbing both in the throat, according to police.
"They had observed a male individual who was standing in the parking lot near the front of the store. He had blood on his hands and blood on his clothing," says Det. Lt. George Darienzo, of the Nassau County Police Department. "That male was placed into handcuffs."
Police added that Dambrosio was estranged from his family from a domestic incident with a sibling from just weeks ago.
People have laid out flowers and candles to honor and remember the victims.
"They were very kind, generous people. they would always say 'how are you, how's the family' and it was kind of just a relationship that just came up out of nowhere," says Plainedge resident Peter Roidis.
"I was really shocked. I didn't expect any of this to happen," says Plainedge resident Tommy Esposito.
Dambrosio was arraigned bedside at Nassau University Medical Center.
His defense attorney, Raymond Queliz, had no comment after the arraignment.
