Police are searching for three men they say were involved a shooting near a school playground in Prospect Heights.
Officers say the gunfire broke out just before 9 a.m. The New York City Department of Education says the school went into a brief shelter-in, which was quickly lifted.
Investigators say three men with dark complexions left the scene on foot wearing ski masks. One male was last seen in a gray jacket and the other two in black hooded sweatshirts.
Parents who spoke with News 12 say they’re frustrated and scared, calling the incident every parent’s worst nightmare. Some said their children were kept indoors for safety and are still processing what happened.
Police are asking anyone with information about the three men involved to contact the NYPD.
