Three officers were wounded during a chaotic incident Friday evening where investigators say an attempted burglary suspect fled police, ran over an officer and crashed into a police car during a pursuit.

Police say they arrested 24-year-old Isaac Catedral, of Haverstraw, at the end of the chase. He faces a slew of charges, including aggravated attempted murder.

The Haverstraw Police Department says the incident began when officers responded to an attempted break-in at a home just after 4:40 p.m.

Officers located a car matching the suspect’s description and ordered Catedral to exit the vehicle, investigators say.

Instead, Catedral allegedly took off and accelerated toward an officer. Police say the officer was struck and run over.

Detectives say officers pursued Catedral’s vehicle as it traveled southbound on Route 9W into Clarkstown and eventually returned northbound toward Haverstraw.

Catedral allegedly slammed into a Haverstraw Police vehicle. Police say they took Catedral into custody and to the hospital for evaluation following the crash.

Paramedics took the three wounded officers to the hospital, according to officials. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Police say Catedral is also charged with two counts of assault, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned Saturday morning in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility.
