Police have released the name of the man who was shot and killed on a residential block in Cypress Hills early Sunday morning.
They say 23-year-old Wilky Toribio Perez, from Brooklyn, was shot around 2:30 a.m. on Pine Street.
Video from the scene shows crime scene units blocking off the street and sidewalk as they searched for evidence. Several shell casings were found scattered along the block.
Perez was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition, but he did not survive.
Investigators say they are looking for two men who took off on a moped, both dressed in all black.
One longtime neighbor says they saw unusual activity right after the shooting from men on a moped.
“He drove to the fire hydrant, and then his passenger got off and walked right up here to the blue house. He went on the sidewalk instead of picking up grabbing something. Of course, I don’t know what it was—I assumed it was shells,” the neighbor said.
So far, no arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone who saw or heard something to contact them.
