Eradicating absentee ballot fraud is proving to be a major topic in the 22nd District Democratic State Senate Primary.
The four-way race is between Bill Finch, Scott Burns, Tyler Mack and Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox.
Former State Rep. Chris Caruso says he supports Gadkar-Wilcox because she intends to push for limiting or stopping campaign workers and political operatives from distributing absentee ballot applications to voters.
"So when people go to vote, they know their vote is going to count, and it's not going to be outweighed by the absentee ballot abuse that we've seen," Caruso says.
"How to eradicate absentee ballot fraud has to be a priority, because it erodes voter confidence in the system, and that will just depress the vote," Gadkar-Wilcox says.
Finch and Burns say when it comes to the right to vote by absentee ballot, it's important to use it, but not abuse it.
Voters will head to the polls for the Democratic Primary on Aug. 13.
