A 2-year-old girl fell from the Sky Ride on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk on Monday night, and her aunt jumped from the ride after her, according to police.
Seaside Heights police said officers responded to the area of Sampson Avenue around 7:40 p.m. and found the girl and her 31-year-old aunt on the ground beneath the ride. A 3-year-old boy remained on the Sky Ride.
Neither the girl nor her aunt initially complained of pain or appeared to have obvious injuries, police said. Emergency medical crews were called to evaluate them.
Police said their initial investigation indicated that the woman jumped from the ride after her niece fell. Ride attendants stopped the Sky Ride immediately after seeing the fall.
The Seaside Heights Fire Department was called to help get the 3-year-old boy off the ride. Firefighters, police and Casino Pier staff used a ladder to safely remove him. The Fire Department said the boy was uninjured.
Police said officers saw no apparent problems with the ride when they initially examined it.
All three, who are from Bridgeton, were taken to Community Medical Center for further evaluation.
