Two people are walking from Robert Moses to Montauk to raise awareness and donations to battle colorectal cancer.
"Mission to Montauk" is a five-day, 80-mile beach walk. One of the two people walking, Brian Crowe of Huntington, is a colorectal cancer survivor.
“It’s all about awareness. Colon cancer is on the rise, there is a big stigma about talking about it. So if we can just discuss it, get our colonoscopies, do what we got to do, we can save a lot of lives," said Crowe.
Crowe and Leilani Garcia, of Northport, are raising money during their journey for colorectal cancer research and to support their mission and supplies.
Their starting point Wednesday is Robert Moses. Thursday the pair will walk through Smith Point, then Cupsogue Friday, Shinnecock East County Park Saturday, and finishing in Montauk Sunday.
