District leaders in the Northeast Bronx announced a $1 million investment to expand ARGUS security camera systems across the NYPD’s 47th Precinct.
Sen. Jamaal T. Bailey secured the funding in partnership with Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Council Member Kevin Riley, building on more than $1 million already invested since 2023 to strengthen public safety.
Officials say the cameras will allow officers to monitor streets in real time, respond faster to shootings and emergencies, and access video more quickly during investigations.
The new investment is part of a larger, coordinated effort among city and state leaders to give officers better tools, reduce delays in obtaining footage and protect families in high-violence areas.
Police say they will study crime hotspots to determine where the new cameras will be placed.
