Firefighters battled three separate fires in Westchester County on Wednesday, including a house fire in Irvington, an apartment fire in Bedford Hills and a commercial fire in Dobbs Ferry.

The first fire broke out around 5 a.m. on the 300 block of Mountain Road in Irvington. Firefighters from several departments responded to the scene. One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The home was heavily damaged and officials are investigating the cause.

Around 1:30 p.m., crews also responded to a fire at Overseas Auto Body on the 500 block of Warburton Avenue in Hastings-on-Hudson. The Dobbs Ferry Fire Department said firefighters worked for about two hours before bringing the fire under control and clearing the scene.

At about the same time, Bedford Hills firefighters were dispatched to a reported kitchen fire at a two-story occupied apartment building on Rome Avenue. Crews arrived to find smoke showing and quickly encountered heavy fire conditions inside the apartment.

The fire spread to the outside of the building and threatened the second floor, prompting a second alarm and a large mutual aid response. Firefighters stopped the exterior fire before it could spread into additional apartments and kept the blaze confined to the apartment where it started.

The main body of the fire was knocked down about 30 minutes after crews were dispatched. Firefighters remained on scene conducting searches and overhaul operations to make sure the fire was fully extinguished.
