A man was stabbed in Spring Valley near the Church of Nazarene early Tuesday morning, according to police.
The incident happened near 11 E. Church St. just after 1 a.m.
Officers found the man bleeding with multiple lacerations and a stab wound to his body.
The man was taken to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.
The stabbing left residents shaken.
"I feel like the community's just gone downhill to be honest. I don't come out late at night,” says Spring Valley resident Damaras Jones.
Residents say it’s also concerning that it happened near a local church and down the street from playgrounds and basketball courts.
“It’s pretty shocking because I usually hang out here every day,” says Spring Valley resident Winter Bellevue. “Families come out here all the time, people are enjoying themselves so you never imagine that somebody would get stabbed so close to the park.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
