One person was killed and three others were injured after a vessel struck a channel marker in Barnegat Bay late Saturday night.
At approximately 10:56 p.m., troopers responded to the report of a serious boating crash.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a 32-foot Boston Whaler was traveling through the Intracoastal Waterway when it collided with an Intracoastal Waterway channel marker. Following the crash, the vessel's operator, Kevin Wells, 39, of Warren, piloted the boat to a residence on Silver Lagoon Drive in Toms River Township, where emergency personnel responded to provide medical assistance.
Michael T. Bereheiko, 26, of Green Brook, a passenger on the boat, was transported to a hospital, where he died.
Two other passengers sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital. A fourth passenger suffered minor injuries.
