A large tree splintered and fell onto several parked vehicles along Hudson Park Road in New Rochelle on Sunday morning, causing damage and reducing traffic to one lane.
Residents living near the scene told News 12 they not only heard the tree come down — they felt the impact inside their homes.
No injuries were reported as officials say the vehicles were empty when the tree fell around 8:15 a.m.
“We heard the creaking, and then a loud bang, and it shook the apartment,” said Christy, who lives nearby. “We ran outside and saw the tree had split in half.”
According to neighbors, part of the same tree had fallen last weekend, causing minor damage.
Con Edison crews responded to assess the scene and determined power lines were not damaged.
Apartment complex workers are expected to remove the branches and uncover the vehicles, so owners can assess the extent of damage.
Hudson Park Road remained down to one lane as cleanup efforts continued.
