Connecticut's minimum wage will be increasing on Jan., Gov. Lamont announced Friday.
Starting at the beginning of the year, wages will increase from $15.69 to $16.35 per hour.
In 2019, Lamont signed a law that required the minimum wage had to be adjusted annually based on the health of the economy, specifically the percentage change in the federal employment cost index.
Lamont said in statement that "this law that we enacted ensures that as the economy grows, the wages of low-income workers can grow with it. This is a fair, modest adjustment for workers who will invest their earnings right back into our economy and support local businesses in their communities."
