        William Floyd SD: Victim in fatal Shirley crash was boys’ varsity assistant basketball coach

        Police say both vehicles overturned from the collision.

        A man was killed and two others were injured in a crash Friday on Sunrise Highway in Shirley, police say.
        They say the two-vehicle collision happened at around 1:15 p.m. between exits 57 and 58.
        The victim who was killed has been identified as 51-year-old Darrel Sumpter. His passenger and another driver were injured.
        Police say both vehicles overturned from the collision.
        The crash closed westbound on Sunrise Highway between William Floyd Parkway and Horseblock Road for several hours, police say.
        The William Floyd School District confirmed that Sumpter was the boys' varsity assistant basketball coach.
