Arctic air has settled into the region to start the week, having temperatures significantly lower than normal for this time of year - especially on Tuesday morning.
The winds will weaken tonight, but the air temperatures will drop even lower. The lows will be in the single digits and teens once more. Late Tuesday morning, the temperatures will improve slightly, but it will still be much colder than normal by Tuesday afternoon.
The next change comes on Wednesday. There is a clipper system that will likely bring snow to the region during the late morning hours and in the early afternoon/evening hours. Snow accumulation is likely for northwestern Ulster County, with trace to no snow accumulation likely for Westchester, Rockland and central counties.
Furthermore, during the evening commute, any snow will likely transition to rainfall, especially for the southern counties. As this system clears out Wednesday night, it will become dry, but still gusty and colder than normal to end the week.
We are keeping a close eye on another opportunity for accumulating snow this weekend. There is a lot of uncertainty with this weekend system, so make sure you stay up to date with us here as the forecast evolves.
