A gathering of real-life heroes took place in Bergen County on Friday.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer honored several people - including veterans, first responders and a cancer survivor, who have gone above and beyond to serve their community. They were honored as “Hometown Heroes.”
"Tell me who doesn't get the attention he or she deserves, and I want to make sure I recognize them. These people do it every single day because it's the right thing. They do it because they love our great state and love our communities,” says Gottheimer.
Twenty-one North Jersey residents were honored at the event. It is held twice a year.
