8h agoPolice in a Monmouth County town are asking the public for assistance after they say over 100 political campaign signs were stolen and later found in a dumpster in Howell Township.
According to authorities, about 130 political signs belonging to the "Leggio for Mayor" campaign were pulled from the ground and tossed into a dumpster behind Ramtown Plaza around April 23 and later.
Authorities say they are looking for a 2018-2023 Toyota Camry. Police posted video showing a vehicle stopping on the side of the road at one of the many locations the signs were stolen from. The suspect is shown in the video pulling up the sign and then taking it back with them inside the car.
The mayoral primary election in Howell is June 4 and features four candidates, including John Leggio, Ian Nadel, current Deputy Mayor Ian Nadel, and Fred Gasior as republican candidates. Democrat Matthew Filosa is unopposed in the democratic primary.
