Over 6,000 handmade Valentine's Day cards were delivered to veterans Wednesday at Castle Point VA Hospital in Dutchess County .

It was all part of Rep. Pat Ryan's annual Valentines for Veterans program.

Thousands of volunteers from across the area created the sweet notes to give back to the veterans who protected the country.

Ryan says the initiative aims to show veterans that their selfless service does not go unnoticed.
