Although it may feel like summer, it's not beach season just yet. The city’s parks department is urging Bronx residents to stay out of the water today.
Orchard beach and all the other beaches across New York City will reopen Saturday, May 25 for swimmers and beachgoers. Until then, swimming at the beaches is not allowed because lifeguards are not on duty yet.
Also keep in mind public schools are closed today, so the beach may be packed.
