Asbury Park is gearing up for another summer of music. What the public may not know is that they can see dozens of professional shows for free.
There's something for everyone this summer and it won't cost them a nickel.
"We value that kind of arts and culture here and we value people having access to free music and art here," said Asbury Park Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn.
Beginning next month and running through summer, most weeks feature four free nights of music all over town.
"Springwood Avenue, Tuesdays at the Turf Club - they are both two examples of music in the southwest part of town. Very exciting and then the jazz band is on the boardwalk. Asbury Live is on the boardwalk, so moving people around throughout the city is exciting and important to us," said Quinn.
From Springwood Avenue to the Boardwalk Green and the 5th Avenue Bandshell, music lovers will hear everything from jazz to concert bands to rock ’n’ roll.
"Music built Asbury. It continues to bring people to Asbury and I would expand that a little bit and talk about art," Quinn said.
These free shows include rising stars like Jersey's own Jake Thistle and complement the already busy lineup at the Stone Pony Summer Stage, Sea. Hear. Now., Asbury Pride Festival and North to Shore - which do require paid admission.
